But rising to their coveted status isn’t without its downfalls- sadly, there is a thriving market for counterfeit Zimmerman products.
Recently we have received several (very convincing!) fake Zimmermann dresses so we thought we would share some tips on how to spot a fake!
- Check the sizing tag. For genuine Zimmermann, the size tag is located to the right of the “Zimmermann'' brand label. In any other position, you know that the garment is fake. Also check the quality and stitching of the brand label. Brand labels that feel cheap and are poorly sewn may indicate that you have a fake item.
- Check the care label.Zimmermann care labels have a specific layout, font and spacing of the letters that is difficult to copy. If you have access to a genuine Zimmermann garment (or an image of one), compare the two labels side by side to determine the difference.
- Hardware and zippers. Zimmermann typically brands its zippers with the brand name on it, so be sure to check the zip for both quality and branding. Inspect the quality of the hardware of your garment. Poor quality hardware is a clear indication you have a non genuine Zimmermann product.
